NEMEP Recent Accomplishments

NEMEP frequently met with NYS DOH (Medicaid) and succeeded in changing the drop ship policy to align with Medicare's policy (no more wet signatures)  

NEMEP is also working with NYS DOH to require Licensure for HME through policy to eliminate HME providers from out-of-state  

NEMEP hired an experienced lobbyist firm and successfully introduced legislation in the NYS House and Senate to set a floor for all Medicaid Managed Care insurers with a goal of stable rates at 100% of the NYS Medicaid fee schedule to protect patient access to care

NEMEP is working regularly with NJ Medicaid for set call cadence 

NEMEP’s collaboration with VGM and AAHomecare with insurers should help drive better reimbursement through an awareness campaign on the value of DME

NEMEP worked together with industry partners and successfully removed ventilators from Competitive Bidding

NEMEP recruited signatures to delay Competitive Bidding through the Public Health Emergency 

NEMEP hosted Weekly and Bi-weekly networking virtual meetings – “Lunch with NEMEP” to discuss PHE/COVID related issues or other membership concerns 

NEMEP expanded the Board with a balanced regional representation, established state chairs, and considered each product category for improved member engagement 

NEMEP used a “Provider Helping Provider” system to resolve equipment and PPE shortages during the pandemic and beyond for assistance
